    At last!     Here is the wine that perfectly expresses summer by the sea on Waiheke Island. Fresh, fragrant and crisp with the delicate palate and aromas of 100% syrah fruit from our Onetangi Valley vineyard cold fermented for three weeks until dry and with an alcohol content under 12%. Described in The Best of the Best 2011 Wine Guide as "A superb wine for this style ... tasting cleanly pure, dry and refreshing as well as a very good food partner. A rose with a difference, and wine lovers will find this most enjoyable."

    The inaugural vintage of our flagship wine was harvested from very low-cropping young vines at optimum maturity and aged for 12 months in new French oak. Now at its peak after winning acclaim in international competitions and available in limited quantity ex-cellar.

    This signature wine from the very best parcels of fruit is produced in limited quantity and aged for 3 years prior to release. Intense varietal flavours and complexity are supported by ripe tannins. Spicy herbal and floral notes are contributed by a proportion of Petit Verdot from the same vineyard. Bottled under cork and suitable for additional cellaring up to 10 years if desired.

    This is a notable product of our highly mineralised soils and the long warm summer of 2008. The wine has many years to travel before reaching full maturity but will appeal now to connoisseurs who are aware of the spice and minerality that distinguishes syrah grown on our Waiheke Island estate. A trade release date will be announced later in the year. Five Stars Michael Cooper. Best of the Best Wine Guide 2011 describes it as "a legend in the making".

    The Hay Paddock Harvest Man Syrah 2009

    In weight and texture this 100% syrah from our Onetangi Vineyard is very akin to the Northern Rhone styles and will appeal to enthusiasts who enjoy the mouth feel and lingering delicacy of a Cote Rotie or a ripe pinot noir. A cooler year has delivered softer tannins and less intense pepper flavours, allowing raspberry and vanilla overtones to show. A lovely wine to accompany food, particularly white meats and pasta.

    The Hay Paddock Harvest Man 2008

    A season that delivered clean, ripe fruit has resulted in a bright, deeply coloured wine with white pepper and black berries on the palate. Bottled under screwcap after 12 months in wood which shows in toasty oak and vanilla notes. Firm tannins with a long clean finish suited to a wide variety of food flavours.
