The 2011 pick of the best 100 wines released in New Zealand during the year contains two wines from The Hay Paddock.
As the Best of the Best editor observes, over 5,000 wines are released each year by over 850 wine brands. To have two of our wines in the top 100 is quite a coup. Here's how they were described:
Hay Paddock Waiheke Island Syrah 2008
"Perfectly grained and balanced, a somewhat special wine with its local statement underlined by a low yield, a determination to make fine wine as the sole objective and the tender-loving care committed to consistently achieve this. Youthful, but more importantly, a legend in the making."
The Hay Paddock Silk Rose 2011
"A superb wine for this style which doesn't come easily in New Zealand. Made from syrah on Waiheke Island, tasting cleanly pure, dry and refreshing as well as a very good food partner. A rose with a difference, and wine lovers will find this most enjoyable."
